Winter 2020 is here which means harsh, Indiana winter weather is upon us. Outdoor activities may be limited but there are plenty of ways to have fun indoors in DeKalb County, Indiana.

Bowling at THREE Bowling Alleys
Auburn Bowl
The Auburn Bowl offers 18 lanes of high-quality bowling and a bar with drinks and snacks. (260) 925-0235
Garrett Bowl
The Garrett Bowl has been around for 60 years and offers multiple lanes along with a bar and grill. Every Friday and Saturday they have “Cosmic Bowling” which for $10 gets you all- you- can bowl. (260) 357-4874
Butler Bowl
The Butler Bowl and Recreation Center has been around since 1961 and they offer 12 lanes with a full restaurant and snack bar. This place is another great option for the whole family to have some fun. (260) 868-5908
Skating at the Skatin’ Station

Tour a Museum
There’s no shortage of museums in DeKalb County, there's 8! So, essentially you could go and visit a museum every day of the week. Don’t forget when you go to your first museum, ask the front desk for your Museum Passport which gets you a discount at each of the museums. Here’s a few museums we recommend: The Early Ford V8 Museum which was recently remodeled, The National Automotive and Truck Museum that houses the famous 1953 GM Futurliner, and The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum which is a beauty in itself. Parks and Recreation Department
The Auburn Parks and Recreation Department has many indoor events/activities throughout the winter months to keep you and your family busy. There’s painting classes, family game nights, and more! Call (260) 925-5430
There are four wonderful libraries in DeKalb County and each one offers its own unique set of programs for children and adults.
Eckhart Library
The Eckhart Library has a great selection of activities for kids that include: Storytime, Lego Club, Preschool Storytime, Kids in the Kitchen, Knifty Knitters and Painting Classes! Call (260) 925-2414 for questions.
There’s also The Teen Library where teenagers can come by to enjoy a snack café, desktops for homework and games, a public iPad, and an extensive Teen collection of fiction and graphic novels.
Garrett Public Library
The Garrett Public Library has kids’ programming for all ages such as Kid’s Club, Storytime, crafts, games, and much more. They even offer Restorative Yoga Classes throughout the week. Call (260) 357-5485
Butler Public Library
The Butler Public Library offers children’s programs, teen programs, and adult programs. They even offer SAT, ACT prep books for middle and high school students.
Waterloo Public Library
The Waterloo Public Library is a magical place for kids to learn and explore. They offer Storytime, Sit & Stitch, Yoga Classes and more! Call (260) 837-4491
YMCA Activities
The YMCA has before and after-school programs for children to stretch their skills in mind and body. There are also tons of sports activities and teams to check out to see which one fits your needs. Call for details (260) 925-9622
Classic City Center
Schedule a time and play NERF Battle with friends or bounce around on the indoor field playing soccer. There’s even a Ninja Warrior Gym, a Kidz Gym, and a rock wall! Window Nook Studio
This is the perfect place for kids to express their creativity through art. You can attend the “Kid’s Art Club” or participate in a “Kid’s Art Party” where kids can create art/craft projects and then take them home. The best part is, the Window Nook will clean up the mess!
