We Love Auburn Month:  Small Town, Big Heart!

Auburn Main Street (AMS) and the Downtown Auburn Business Association are excited to announce several additions to this year's “We Love Auburn” month, as well as some annual favorites! This February will mark the sixth time AMS has presented “We Love Auburn” month to celebrate an entire month dedicated to bringing residents and businesses together to show their love for Auburn.  AMS will host a unique, community-friendly event each weekend for the month of February.

It’s time to Yarn Bomb Auburn once again!  Whether you’re knitting, crocheting, or repurposing yarn for art, all ages and experience levels are welcomed and encouraged.  Yarn Bomb is a unique and whimsical way to brighten the dreary days of winter and wrap the city of Auburn in a little bit of love. Participants will find guidelines on the AMS website or on their social media.  Installation of yarn projects will take place on February 1st and will need to be removed on February 29th.

Join Auburn Main Street on February 7th in downtown Auburn for a fantastic evening of haunted walking tours with "DeKalb County Haunts."  Learn some history and a few haunted stories about historic buildings and famous people from Auburn. Tours will meet outside of Jeremiah’s, and begin at 6:00 pm, 8:00 pm, and 10:00 pm. Free will donation will be for Auburn Main Street.

Another great event for this year is Auburn’s Arctic Display. On February 14th, Ice Sculptors from Indiana Ice Studio will be on hand for ice sculpture demonstrations. Demonstrations will begin around 5:30 pm that evening.  AMS is seeking area businesses, community organizations, families and individuals to sponsor the sculptures as a fundraiser for AMS’s promotional efforts. The sculptures are individually made and will include your logo in the design.

New to this year’s lineup is carriage rides! Come enjoy a cozy carriage ride in downtown Auburn on February 14th from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm and February 15th from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm.  “Our hope for Valentine’s Day weekend is to encourage our community members to spoil loved ones, big & small,  in downtown Auburn this year.  We want to showcase our strengths and show Auburn some love..” said Amber Jackson, AMS Board Member & Executive Director for the DeKalb County Visitors Bureau. This event is first-come, first-serve and free-will donations will be accepted for AMS.

Ever wondered what was upstairs in all those downtown buildings in Auburn?  Well, Saturday, February 22nd, you get to finally see some of the never before seen second-story spaces in downtown Auburn.  "Upstairs Downtown" is a self-guided walking tour of select properties around downtown Auburn featuring unique, must-see, spaces. Tour-goers will see spaces of all kinds, learn about the importance of downtown revitalization and preservation. Many thanks to Willennar Genealogy Center for providing the history for this event.

Finally, Saturday, February 29th AMS will kick off the first "Auburn Pub Crawl."  T-shirts will be sold for this pub crawl with 10-12 participating pubs.  Watch their website and social media page for the next few weeks as those details finalize.

“We Love Auburn month has become a true celebration of love for our community and a tradition for my family and so many others.  I couldn’t be more proud of our board and committees who put in so much time to put this collaboration of events together for Auburn,”  said Eldon Byler, President of AMS.
